Laneve Carpets the Penthouse Suite at NZ House in London

Wool Partners International’s premium carpet wool, Laneve, will be used to create luxurious new floor coverings for the Penthouse Suite at the New Zealand High Commission in London.

The Penthouse suite project is the result of collaboration between Wool Partners and the British Wool Marketing Board and will bring together prestigious retailers and designers. The custom-carpet will be woven from Laneve and British wools by the highly renowned British carpet manufacturer Brintons Carpets and leading European yarn spinner Danspin.

Wool Partners Chief Executive Officer Iain Abercrombie says the project is a great example of Wool Partners working with partners internationally. “This project will bring together leading players in the industry to create a luxury product from Laneve, the world’s premium carpet wool.”

Wool Partners have negotiated contracts with key international carpet manufacturers to use Laneve. Details of partners to the Laneve programme will be announced at the Domotex Trade Fair in January, together with a full demonstration of one of the core elements ‘traceability of the fibre from the end product through the supply chain to the grower’.

The Penthouse Suite at NZ House is used for official entertaining by the NZ High Commission and for other events and is an ideal showcase in London to promote the qualities of New Zealand wool.

The 130 square metres of carpet will be put in place in time for the official launch of Laneve in Britain in March at an event to be held in the Penthouse Suite. Invited guests will include retailers, buyers, designers and specifiers who are critical to recognising quality, adding value and who are increasingly mindful of the sustainable criteria when it comes to carpet specification.

“The ability to tell a New Zealand story built on the values we hold will be very appealing to carpet buyers,” Mr Abercrombie says.

“Our international partners who have contracted to use Laneve understand this concept and will be introducing product ranges using Laneve in 2010.”

Wool Partners is targeting a selected group of carpet manufacturers, carpet specifiers and retailers servicing customers who demand the luxury and natural values of wool carpet.
