PALLISER RIDGE

Palliser Ridge in New Zealand’s North Island is part of the Wools of New Zealand Ltd integrity programme and the very first of our farms to be accredited under the Responsible Wool Standard for Marks and Spencer. Kurt Portas runs the property with his wife Lisa and as a young Kiwi family with two boys, Axel and Beauden, they’re committed to working with nature and their 10,000 sheep.

THE FARM

Palliser Ridge is a 1,150ha effective Sheep & Beef farm situated just South of Martinborough, in South Wairarapa and consists of 6 different blocks of land.

Having an empowered and motivated team who communicate well and work together in a safe and enjoyable environment.
Enhancing the environment by achieving and maintaining optimum soil health (soil fertility and structure), eradicating weeds & pests, providing shelter and conserving both native bush and archaeological sites.
Making animal health a key priority by ensuring stock is fed at all times with sufficient water/shade and shelter.
Going the extra mile to help maintain a positive relationship with the local community.
